Pacific Coastal Drive + San Diego

With much anticipation, we embarked on a condensed road trip which meant 15 hours drive non-stop (well almost!) from San Francisco to San Diego. Our route followed the scenic and well-known route 1, a.k.a. the Pacific Coastal Highway.







It was an amazing journey! For the first 4-5 hours we were treated to glorious views out on to the Pacific ocean. The high way hugged the cliffs / coast line for most of that distance. We stopped from time to time for 5 mins of stretching legs, swapping drivers, taking pics and gasping at the natural beauty. Shame we weren't in a classic red Cadillac for the journey - still it was a proper road trip!



Highlights along the way were massive elephant seals, windy roads through forest, big bridge crossings and of course the LA traffic was a great way to spend hours 11 and 12!!



Eventually, at 10.30pm, tired but not broken, we arrived at San Diego. We were visiting my friends, Sunny and Anoop who were having an extended 6 week stay in a pretty coastal village called LA JOLLA. The following day we got to experience typical San Diego winter weather: bring sunshine and warmth along the beaches... I could really get used to a 20-24 degrees climate all year round. It was nice to walk along the beach, sand in toes and waves lapping at our ankles.



Next stop - Vegas baby!!
